Vashist interacted with around 200 representatives of CREDAI Pune Metro members at a special session titled ‘Awareness and Interactive Program on PF Provision & Benefits’ held at CREDAI Pune Metro auditorium on Thursday.

Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Grade II Yogendra Singh Shekhawat, Assistant Labour Commissioner Dattatray Pawar, CREDAI Pune Metro Vice President Ranjit Naiknavare, Director General Dr DK Abhyankar, General Manager Urmila Jhulka, Chairman CREDAI- KUSHAL JP Shroff, CREDAI Labour Welfare Committee convenor Sapna Rathi, Labour Welfare officer Sameer Parkhi, Labour Welfare Committee members Mukesh Gada, Kunal Chugh were present on the occasion.

“The construction industry, especially the construction workers come under the unorganized sector and hence there is a need for them to register with the Provident Fund office. There is a threat of accidents happening at construction sites and hence to get financial and social security, PF registrations are necessary and hence construction firms must come forward to register their workers under PF,” Vashist said.

During the program, Dattatray Pawar outlined the updated clauses of the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board by saying that now the worker registration can be made with Rs 1 unlike Rs 37 earlier.

He said that the widow of a registered construction worker will be given financial assistance for five years and Rs 10,000 will be given for the last rituals of the said construction worker. He added that in case of a disability arising while working, financial assistance is also being provided.

Ranjit Naiknaware said, “Most of the workers in the construction industry are on a contract basis that migrate from different states of different cities, and hence they do not possess any documents. And despite the willingness of the construction firms, there is a problem of registration of workers for PF. The CREDAI Pune Metro with support of construction firms is working to bring a more organized sector in the real estate industry. We are also making efforts that construction firms register under PF and workers reap its benefit.”
