April 9: Coronavirus positive cases reaches 209, death toll 25 in Pune

Pune, April 9, 2020: As per the final statistics released by the Pune district administration, seven persons died of Coronavirus today while total positive cases reached 209.

According to the district health officer, there are 175 Corona positive patients under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) jurisdiction, 12 under Pune rural and 22 under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limit. One patient died in Baramati, while six died in Pune city today. Out of 209, a total of 30 persons have been cured and discharged from hospitals.

Wearing Face Mask Compulsory in Pune

Pune Police Jt CP Ravindra Shisve has issued an order in this regard. “Mask can be made of cloth or three-layer mask (available in Medical shops). Any person outside his/her house has to wear the mask”, the order states.

There are government, private companies staffs who have to go out to perform duties. Then some people are going out to buy vegetables, milk or grocery items. Everybody has to wear a mask.

Vegetable sale timing changed

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a new order today restricting the timing of vegetable sale in Pune as it was observed there is too much crowd in vegetable markets, stalls. PMC Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad has issued the order that vegetable sale will be allowed only between 11 am to 2 pm and then from 3 pm to 5 pm. Also, vendors have been banned from moving around and selling vegetables in residential areas.

As per the order, only five people will be allowed entry in Mandai or vegetable market. Other people will have to stand outside at a distance of six feet from each other. There will be 10 feet distance between two vendors and only one person will be allowed to buy vegetable at a time from a vendor. Social distancing is the key to prevent Coronavirus spread, the order states.

Areas Sealed to Control Spread of Coronavirus

To stop the spread of Coronavirus, the central area of Pune city has been completely sealed as 40 positive cases have been found in those areas which include Mahrishinagar, Gultekdi and Peth areas. Many other areas including Sinhgad road, Karve Nagar and Kothrud are observing complete shutdown in the fight against Coronavirus.
