APS Dighi’s Annual Sports Day 2024: A Celebration of Unity, Perseverance, and Excellence
Vishrantwadi, 12th December 2024: The Annual Sports Day (2024-25) of Army Public School, Dighi, was a grand two-day celebration marked by unwavering enthusiasm, unity, and a vibrant display of perseverance and determination.
Themed “Udaan: Rise and Shine,” the event was held on 12th December 2024 and graced by the esteemed presence of Brig Paramjit Singh Jyoti, VSM, Commandant, Bombay Engineer Group & Centre, along with other dignitaries and the Principals of Army Public Schools. The meet was officially declared open on Day One by Col. Rahul Oberoi, Deputy Commandant, Bombay Engineer Group & Centre, and Oberoi.
The festivities began with a warm welcome for the Chief Guest, followed by the release of 15 balloons, symbolizing the aspirations of APS Dighi to reach new milestones and soar to greater heights. The ceremonial torch relay and lighting of the flame signaled the commencement of the games, embodying the values of sportsmanship and unity. Principal Kavita Kadam presented the annual report, highlighting the school’s achievements in academics and extracurricular activities.
The event featured a splendid March Past, showcasing discipline and pride by the four houses: Bhagat, Gurnam, Rane, and Shivaji. The athletic events included thrilling 100m and 200m sprints and electrifying relay races, which kept the audience captivated.
Adding to the festive atmosphere were cultural performances, which highlighted the school’s rich heritage and talent. The traditional lezim dance and an adorable pom-pom routine by kindergarteners brought joy to the gathering. The mesmerizing “Rang Tarang” drill, featuring vibrant dupattas, depicted the Olympic spirit and promoted peace and unity. The “Shivoham Symphony,” an ode to Lord Shiva’s cosmic dance, enchanted the audience with its spiritual essence. Bollywood-inspired aerobics, combined with tradition, added flair, while the Yoga and Pyramid formations showcased inner strength, coordination, and teamwork.
The event concluded with the felicitation of winners, where students excelling in sports and cultural activities were awarded medals and certificates. Gurnam House claimed the Sports Day Trophy, while Bhagat House secured the Runners-Up Trophy.
In his address, Brig Paramjit Singh Jyoti lauded the school’s remarkable academic success, particularly for achieving the highest API for 12th grade in the large school category among all Army Public Schools nationwide.
