Arijit Singh And Divine Unveil Dynamic Theme Song ‘Bhide’ At Grand Durand Cup Opening Ceremony

New Delhi, 9th August 2023: In New Delhi, the theme song video for the 132nd Durand Cup was revealed. This unveiling occurred as a part of the opening ceremony for the 24-team tournament, which took place on August 3, 2023. This video is poised to evoke fresh and intense emotions among fervent fans of the game. The song, titled “Bhide” in Hindi, has been crafted by the acclaimed wordsmith Amitabh Bhattacharya and brought to life by the renowned playback artist and melody icon Arijit Singh, along with the well-known Rapper Divine, also known as Vivian Fernandez. Arijit Singh, in addition to lending his vocals, has composed the music for the song. The song’s dynamic pace effectively captures the nationwide fervour and ardour for the sport.

Adding to the significance of the “Bhide” video is the notable presence of Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal. Celebrated for his portrayal of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill in the film “Uri: The Surgical Strike,” Vicky Kaushal continues his revered association with the Indian Army by prominently featuring in the “Bhide” video. This connection is further emphasized as he gears up to embody the legendary Sam Manekshaw in his upcoming project “Sam Bahadur.” Vicky Kaushal’s dedication to accurately portraying the mannerisms and demeanour of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw involved specialized training.

Expressing his sentiments, Vicky Kaushal shared, “My bond with the Indian Army holds a special place in my heart. This year, I’m deeply honoured to be part of the illustrious Durand Cup, an event orchestrated by the Indian Army representing all three Services. My best wishes to the organizers and the participating teams. Jai Hind!” These words were spoken by the actor before the video’s release during the opening ceremony of the 24-team cup tournament. The Durand Organizing Committee approached Vicky Kaushal, who, upon learning of the concept, enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to showcase his enthusiasm for both the military and football through the video.

Arijit Singh also shared his anticipation for the release of the “Bhide” video, describing it as a departure from his usual work but immensely fulfilling. For Arijit Singh, hailing from Murshidabad’s Jiaganj, the 132nd Durand Cup holds special significance. This is because the opening ceremony featured 22 young individuals from his cherished project, Aditi Institute of Sports, under the umbrella of his Tatwamasi Foundation. This institute is dedicated to nurturing and fostering talent in Bengal and Indian football. These youngsters had a glimpse of their aspirations realized during their visit to Kolkata.
