Army, Civil authorities meet to create synergy, resolve various issues

Pune, July 6, 2019 : A District level Civil Military Liaison Conference was held between Army and Civil authorities at Headquarters Dakshin Maharashtra and Goa Sub Area on Saturday.

The conference was chaired by Major General Navneet Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Maharashtra and Goa Sub Area and was attended by Mr Naval Kishore Ram, District Collector, Pune, Mr Shravan Hardikar, Municipal Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Mr Rajendra Pawar, Defence Estates Officer, Mr Amit Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Pune Cantonment Board and Heads of various other departments viz Health, Railways, Police, Traffic, Water, Pune Airport Authority, Forest and various Army authorities.

The conference, second in the series was aimed to create synergy amongst military and civil authorities and resolve issues concerning security, land, civic amenities, health, law and order and welfare of serving and ex-servicemen in respect of Pune, Kirkee, Dehu Road and Khadakwasla Cantonment and Military Stations. In addition, follow up of various matters raised during the previous conference were also discussed.

The highlights of the conference were, enhanced security mechanism, intelligence sharing, provision of additional traffic lights and constables at critical junctions in cantonment, reserved place for paying homage to Martyrs at Airport, provision of additional storage space and waiting area for defence personnel at Pune Railway Station, clearance of water hyacinth from Mula river, afforestation and cattle transfer to Animal Husbandry department. Both sides agreed that there is a need of frequent interaction at various functional levels and meeting on quarterly basis.

Addressing the gathering, Major General Navneet Kumar brought out the need of continuation of such fruitful interactions to achieve greater cooperation for the benefit of serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families.

District Collector Naval Kishore Ram appreciated the efforts by the Army authorities for being proactive in resolving long pending issues and promised to hold follow up meetings to resolve the issues raised during today’s conference.

PCMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar also lauded the efforts of all the officials in facilitating smooth inter-departmental cooperation and apprised the gathering about the proactive measures being undertaken by PCMC in hastening the pace of development in Pimpri Chinchwad area.
