Army strives for peace in Kashmir

Srinagar, September 20 : Just as all other government agencies, Army too is striving to bring calm and peace in the valley. Its officers and soldiers are making concerted efforts to reach out to all the sections of the society. In these times of unrest, the Army has been conducting Awaam Milan, medical camps, sporting events and educational initiatives by establishing connect with the people in remote areas, taking medical care to their doorsteps and affording educational & recreational facilities in its numerous Chinar 9 Jawan clubs and Army Goodwill schools, spread all across the Kashmir valley.

In this ongoing effort,Army in Behibagh, South Kashmir interacted with sarpanchs, village elders, religious heads and a number of prominent persons from the area who were unanimously appreciative of the Army’s efforts towards maintaining peace. The elders regretted the cycle of untoward incidents being perpetrated by inimical forces and assured that they would sensitise the youth not to fall prey to such designs. Expressing solidarity with the locals, the Army offered its medical help to any needy who could avail it even from the local Army camps.

In a separate drive, Army at Shikargarh, carried with them the message of peace and harmony to the people of Kavil, Pinglish, Tasribug and Soyimuh villages.

In yet another similar initiative in South Kashmir, the Army held several interactions with the elderly and youth of Mandikpal during which the local shopkeepers were convinced to open their shops disregarding those who were forcing them to do so. This confidence building measure yielded results with many shops opening in the area bringing much awaited relief to the people.
