Pune, 11th May 2024: Congress National Spokesperson and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi declared on Saturday that the oppressive provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) are being exploited to target opposition parties, fostering an atmosphere of fear. Singhvi asserted that once the INDI Alliance assumes power, these oppressive measures will be reconsidered, and Article 370 will not be reinstated in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing concerns during a media interaction program organized by the Pune Union of Working Journalists Association (PUWJ), Singhvi expressed apprehension regarding the misuse of funds, or ‘Vitamin M,’ by the BJP in elections, warning of potential repercussions on democracy.

Responding to queries about the potential reinstatement of Article 370, which grants autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir, Singhvi rebuked the BJP’s assertions, denouncing them as false assumptions. He also refuted claims of property redistribution and imposition of inheritance tax.

Singhvi highlighted the significance of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, framing them as a battle for the ‘Idea of India’ grounded in secularism, socialism, and democracy. He lamented the erosion of constitutional values under the Modi government, citing attacks on the federal system and the alleged misuse of agencies like the ED and CBI.

Singhvi drew attention to pressing local issues in Pune, including traffic congestion and drug trafficking, urging voters to prioritize safeguarding the Constitution alongside addressing these fundamental concerns.
