New Delhi, 23rd April 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reported on Tuesday, April 23, that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal received insulin while detained in Tihar jail, following a prolonged struggle. The party attributed this development to the support of the people of Delhi and the blessings of Lord Hanuman.

This update followed a Delhi court’s directive the previous day, instructing AIIMS to form a medical board to assess Kejriwal’s need for insulin to regulate his blood sugar levels. The court noted discrepancies between the home-cooked food Kejriwal was consuming and his doctor’s prescribed diet.

In response to Kejriwal’s plea for a video consultation with his doctor, the court, presided over by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, denied the request, highlighting the absence of a diabetes specialist in Tihar jail.

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj welcomed the court’s decision, affirming Kejriwal’s claims of escalating sugar levels due to inadequate medical care in Tihar jail. His colleague Atishi echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the lack of proper medical supervision for Kejriwal.

Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels had reportedly exceeded 300 for ten consecutive days, prompting his repeated requests for insulin, which he deemed essential for managing his condition.

Arvind Kejriwal was detained on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi government’s former excise policy. He has been in Tihar jail since April 1.

In a separate legal development, the Delhi High Court scheduled a hearing for May 15 regarding Kejriwal’s petition challenging summonses issued by the ED.
