New Delhi, 12th August 2025: The cryptocurrency venture backed by U.S. President Donald Trump’s family is aiming to raise $1.5 billion (₹13,000 crore) to create a public company that will manage their WLFI token. According to The New York Times, no final agreement has yet been reached for the deal.

The Trump family’s crypto enterprise, World Liberty Financial, is partnering with publicly listed ALT5 Sigma Corp. to secure the funding. ALT5 Sigma has announced plans to sell 200 million new and existing shares, using the proceeds to purchase WLFI tokens from the Trump family.

Founded by Trump and His Son
As per the company’s website, World Liberty Financial was co-founded by Trump and his son, and has already earned the family an estimated $500 million. The WLFI token has not been classified as a security by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), meaning it is not subject to the same regulatory scrutiny as traditional stocks.

Alongside Bitcoin, several cryptocurrencies now operate with corporate structures, including Ethereum, Sui, and Athena. These firms issue company shares linked to their digital assets, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure to the crypto market.

Business Growth During Presidency
Since assuming the presidency, Trump’s family business interests have continued to expand. The move to take World Liberty Financial public signals the latest step in the Trump family’s growing presence in the cryptocurrency sector.

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have previously launched their own meme coins. Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. have also supported World Liberty Financial while establishing their own Bitcoin mining venture.

In a related development, Trump’s Media & Technology Group has added $2 billion worth of Bitcoin to its balance sheet. The company also operates the social media platform Truth Social, further diversifying its business portfolio.
