Pune, 24th October 2026: With Pune reporting 2,413 dengue cases this year, including 553 till October 20, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has urged residents to approach civic-run hospitals amid concerns over bed availability at private facilities.

At a review meeting on Friday, additional municipal commissioner Pavneet Kaur said the civic body would meet private hospitals on Monday to assess bed availability. Officials said civic hospitals had 4,409 beds, including 670 ICU beds, for dengue patients, with occupancy at 50%.

PMC has inspected around 1.4 lakh houses and checked over 28 lakh containers and water tanks. Mosquito larvae were found in 18,885 containers across nearly 13,000 houses. The civic body issued 2,664 notices and collected Rs 6.3 lakh in fines.

Free rapid diagnostic kits are available at civic hospitals, while officials have been directed to ensure prompt fogging after cases are reported. Patients with severe symptoms have been advised to visit Kamala Nehru or Dr Naidu Hospital.
