Bhavani Peth, 20th April 2026: Authorities conducted a detailed inspection of the palanquin (Palkhi) halt site at Bhavani Peth on Monday, reviewing preparations for the annual Ashadhi Wari and emphasising improved civic readiness for the influx of devotees.

The visit focused on ensuring better facilities for pilgrims who halt in the city during the procession. Officials from multiple departments assessed ongoing work and issued directions to enhance infrastructure and services.

Water and sanitation arrangements were a key focus area. Officials reviewed provisions for clean drinking water and inspected designated locations for mobile toilets. Clear instructions were issued to maintain hygiene standards and improve overall cleanliness at the site.

Road conditions along the palanquin route and surrounding areas were also examined. Authorities directed immediate repairs and maintenance work to ensure safer and smoother movement for devotees during the Wari.

On the electrical front, officials ordered the relocation of obstructive streetlight poles along the route. Installation of CCTV cameras was also directed to strengthen security measures for pilgrims.

Healthcare preparedness was reviewed, with space identified for medical teams that will operate round the clock during the Wari period. Officials were instructed to ensure that necessary medical facilities remain fully equipped and functional.

According to the administration, the primary aim of the inspection was to evaluate existing arrangements, address technical shortcomings, and streamline coordination among departments. With the palanquin procession being a significant religious event, authorities stressed the need for disciplined and efficient management to ensure a hassle-free experience for devotees.

The inspection was attended by Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, MLA Hemant Rasane, Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, Additional Commissioner Prajit Nair, and other elected representatives, officials, and stakeholders associated with the event.
