Pimpri, 13th June 2025: As the annual Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage approaches, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has finalized its preparations to welcome the Palkhis of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, which are scheduled to enter the city on June 19 and June 20, respectively.

On Thursday, Additional Municipal Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate (PCMC) conducted a comprehensive review of the palkhi routes, halt points, and the arrangements for warkaris (pilgrims). The inspection aimed to ensure all civic amenities are in place and ready on time.

Accompanying Khorate during the inspection were City Engineers Bapu Gaikwad and Devanna Gattuwar, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar, Assistant Commissioner Umesh Dhakane, Security Officer Uday Jarande, Disaster Management Head Omprakash Bahival, Medical Officer Dr. Ganesh Deshpande, and other relevant staff.

Khorate emphasized the need for inter-departmental coordination and monsoon-specific precautions, stating, “Special attention must be paid to avoid any inconvenience to warkaris during the rainy season. Arrangements for drinking water, mobile toilets, medical aid, emergency services, and temporary accommodations should be thoroughly planned.”

A welcoming center is being set up at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk in Nigdi, where Khorate also reviewed preparations. He instructed that stormwater drainage systems be reassessed to prevent waterlogging during rains.

The PCMC assured that no shortage of services will be faced by the warkaris and that all departments are fully geared up to ensure a safe and well-managed pilgrimage experience.
