Pune, 3rd September 2023: An altercation over unpaid donation for the Ganesh festival led to a physical assault in Sevak Colony within the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) campus. Three individuals have been named as suspects in this incident, and a case has been filed with the Chatushrungi police station.

The accused have been identified as Dinesh Valmiki (30), Pratik Malhari (23, resident of Vidyapeeth Sevak Vasahat), and Umesh (25). The complainant, Krishna Kishore Tamboli (35, resident of Vidyapeeth Sevak Vasahat), reported the incident, which occurred on Friday night.

According to the police, Tamboli and Valmiki, as well as Malhari, reside in the same colony. Valmiki and Malhari allegedly approached the complainant, requesting a donation for their Ganesh Mandal. When Tamboli refused to contribute, tensions escalated.

Tamboli told them that he had already contributed to another Ganesh Mandal, but this explanation did not deter Valmiki, Malhari, and their associates. They reportedly assaulted the complainant with a wooden bamboo, resulting in an injury to his elbow.

A case has been registered in response to this incident, and the police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
