Attention all craft enthusiasts- The Dastkari Haat crafts festival is back in town!

Pune, November 30, 2015: Craft lovers in Pune are in for an excellent opportunity to witness a vibrant collection of art, crafts and textiles from all over India, sold directly by their makers at the Dastkari Haat Crafts Festival!
The well-known Dastkari Haat Samiti was established in 1986 by craft expert Jaya Jaitly- President and Founder of the Dastkari Haat Samiti and this fantastic exhibition is her brain-child.

Punekar News's photo.Punekar News's photo.Highlights will include products of Madhubani Art on steel trunks, wood and textiles, Gond Art, bead jewellery, Kantha embroidery from West Bengal, Block prints, embroidery & weaving from Rajasthan, Chanderi & Maheshwari from Madhya Pradesh, Banarasi weaves & chiken embroidery from Uttar Pradesh, ceramics & pottery from Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh, mehendi art on papier mache from U.P. and silver jewellery from Orissa. The Samiti will also have its own stall selling its exclusive artistic stationery, maps, and craft books.

Punekar News's photo.Some of the many special features at the event include; regional cuisines from Rajasthan, Gujarat and Punjab, “Painting the Tiger” project with traditional and contemporary artists expressing their thoughts and art on wood and fibre glass tiger forms, A Workshop creating story books for children with folk artists for which story writers, graphic artists and others are welcome. Architects and Interior Designers, hoping to take the application of craft skills in contemporary spaces to the next level, will be able to have interactions with Craft partners at the festival for the same.

Tara Books’ release of “Cloth of the Mother Goddess” and the screening of a 20 minute film from 6 pm -7 pm 27th November, 2015
