1st time in India – Lotus B-School, in alliance with IPC Bordeaux, France launches PGD in Wine and Spirit Business Management

· One year course, with first 3 months training at Lotus Business School – Pune followed by 3 months advanced training at IPC Bordeaux, France plus 6 months paid internship in France

· During 6 months internship in France, minimum stipend to student will be 500 Euros per month

Indian Wine consumption is estimated to rise to 2.1 million cases of wine per year, as compared to 1.21 million in 2013. There are more than one million wine makers in the world, producing around 2.8bn cases of wine each year, with the global demand nearly 3bn and rising.

This opens up a vast opportunity for professionals required in the wine industry, not just in India, but even globally. Keeping this in mind, Lotus Business School from Pune has formed an alliance with IPC Bordeaux, France to conduct a one year post-graduate diploma course in Wine and Spirit Business Management (PGDWSBM).

IPC Bordeaux with over 1200 graduates is one of the largest institutes created by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bordeaux and the Bordeaux Promotion of the Institute Commercial form trade, to operate in all sectors of the industry of Wines and Spirits, in France and abroad.

“PGD in Wine and Spirit Business Management is the first of its kind such super-speciality course in India. Wine and Spirit Business Management is an altogether new concept in India. Through this super-specialty skills and competencies developing course, students will understand the global wine industry and then career openings are available globally”, explains Charudatta Bodhankar, Executive Director Lotus Business School.

This effort will be substantiated by an endeavor wherein Indian Students would get opportunities to work with foreign partners gaining valuable experience to further their career prospects. There would be a 3 month curriculum with Lotus Business School, Pune followed by 9 months in France, including Summer Internship of 6 months. The pedagogy of the course has been so designed that the students will garner professional experience even before they graduate, from paid Internships in France.

The programme will be conducted in three stages :

a) During first three months of the programme, the students/participants will receive instructions on Marketing, Management, visits to vineyards, French language and basic knowledge of Wine and Spirit making at Lotus Business School, Pune.

b) During the next three months, students will receive instructions in Wine and Spirit making, commercial testing, wine and spirits trade strengthening, export, technical visits, project methodology at IPC Bordeaux, France.

c) The last six months will comprise of Professional paid internship in France in wine and spirits sector, with a minimum stipend of Euros 500 per month.

“That’s not all – Lotus has also tied-up with The Alliance Francaise, Pune to teach the students the French language, oriented towards correct vocabulary and pronunciations needed in wines business. What’s more, we have also partnered with Sula Vineyards, as our Knowledge partner, to give the students an opportunity to visit the vineyard and get an insight into the wine industry. All this will be completed during the first three months” says Amod Bhat, Regional Head, International Programme”.

In fact, Lotus Business School is organizing a special seminar on 5th December at Hotel Deccan Rendezvous from 2pm to 6pm, for students, parents and principals, to create an awareness of not just the programme, but also the employment benefits, ease of admission and visa processes.

“This is our first international collaboration of many upcoming alliances with universities in Europe. Numerous coalitions are in pipeline and we will see the day light very soon. All the alliances are being done keeping the relevant specialized and flagship skills and industry of a country in mind”, sums up Bodhankar.
