Ayan Saudagar wins double crown in rowing; Yuvraj Kumar, Anay Monga joint lead in chess!!

Pune, 3rd December 2025: Bay Bladers’ Ayan Saudagar won the double crown by topping both the single sculls and supported sculls in the ‘RCBC Junior Sports League 2025’ competition organized by Royal Connaught Boat Club (RCBC). In chess, Nautical Ninja’s Yuvraj Kumar and Splash Stars’ Anay Monga took the joint lead with seven points at the end of the third round.

The main sports of the under-15 boys and girls competition, which started at the RCBC Club in Camp, include rowing, chess, table tennis, carrom, swimming, and lawn tennis. Apart from this, recreational games like tug of war and foosball are also included in this junior league. The aim of this competition is to create a sports culture among young children and to promote qualities like team spirit, sportsmanship and positive attitude through various games. A total of more than 100 boys and girls have participated in the competition and four teams namely Paddle Pirates, Bay Bladers, Splash Stars and Nautical Ninja will compete against each other.

The competition was inaugurated by Parvez Saudagar, President of the Sports Department of RCBC Club and the conceptualizer of the competition. On this occasion, the captains of the participating teams Nushin Nalwala, Srushti Kumar, Abha Arora and Tasneem Rampurwala along with the players and parents were present. The winners of the competition will be awarded trophies, medals and prizes.

In the rowing category of the competition, the skills of speed, accuracy and control were displayed perfectly and brought color to the competition. The rowing matches were held on the banks of the river at Bundgarden. Bay Bladers’ Ayan Saudagar topped both the single sculls and supported sculls, giving his team an early lead on the points table. Paddle Pirates’ Zidan Nalwala and Splash Stars’ Avdika Deshpande’s match was a memorable one. Apart from this, Demira Gandhi, Abdul Qadir Umrethi and Anay Dhawale also performed brilliantly.

In the chess event, at the end of the third round, Nautical Ninja’s Yuvraj Kumar and Splash Stars’ Anay Monga were tied at the top with seven points. Anay Monga defeated Paddle Pirates’ Saif Ali. Yuvraj Kumar defeated Bay Bladers’ Krishna Panchal to gain a crucial point. Splash Stars’ Demira Gandhi defeated Sayesha Maurjani.
