Khadakwasla, 18th February 2025: The 40-day Balidan Mas (Month of Sacrifice) commemorating Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj will begin tomorrow in Kondhawe-Dhawade near Khadakwasla, aiming to reduce despair and addiction among youth. The observance, which leads up to Sambhaji Maharaj’s death anniversary on 29th March, will continue until that date.

Daily rituals will be performed at the Shri Kondhveshwar Temple, starting at 7:15 AM, including worship of Sambhaji Maharaj’s image. Local groups and residents from surrounding areas are expected to participate in the event.

Balidan Mas is observed to remember the 40 days of torture Sambhaji Maharaj endured at the hands of Aurangzeb before his execution. Participants will abstain from their favourite foods, sweets, and comforts as a tribute.

Sunit Limbore, an organizer, encouraged students, youth, and women to join the daily gatherings and embrace the spirit of sacrifice.

Historian Ashok Sarpatil emphasized that Balidan Mas serves as a meaningful way for youth to overcome exam stress, job worries, and addiction. He urged young people to read about Sambhaji Maharaj’s inspiring history during this time.
