Ban On Shops, Eateries, And Establishments Near Kasba Polling Stations For By-Elections

Pune, 24th February 2023: The Pune city police have ordered the closure of all shops and establishments within a hundred meters of polling stations in the Kasba Assembly Constituency by-election, which will take place on Sunday, February 26. The ban applies to shops, eateries, carts, and bars in the vicinity of the polling station. Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik has warned that action will be taken if this order is violated.

The code of conduct came into effect on January 18 ahead of the Kasba constituency elections. Voting will take place on Sunday, and the results will be announced on March 2. The code of conduct will remain in effect until the results are declared.

The elections will be held in the limits of Samarth, Faraskhana, Vishrambagh, Khadak, and Dattawadi police stations of the Pune Police Commissionerate. A total of 270 booths at 76 polling stations have been set up for the elections.

The police have taken these measures to ensure peaceful and smooth polling and to prevent any threat to public peace and property. They have also banned any political person who is not a voter of the Kasba Assembly Constituency or a member of a political party from staying or residing in the constituency.

Additionally, the police have prohibited victory processions after the announcement of the results. Counting of votes will be held on March 2 at the godown of Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Koregaon Park. No one except security forces will be allowed to carry weapons within two hundred meters of the counting area, and the use of mobile phones, loudspeakers, and vehicles will be prohibited in this area. No text can be written in the counting area.

These measures have been put in place to ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner. The police have requested the cooperation of all citizens in this regard.
