Pune/Varanasi, 24th April 2026: In a major infrastructure milestone for Pune’s eastern corridor, the bustling suburb of Hadapsar is set to become a vital railway terminus with the introduction of a new, direct cross-country rail link. The highly anticipated Banaras-Hadapsar Amrit Bharat Express is scheduled for its inaugural journey, establishing a seamless daily connection between Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra’s thriving IT and commercial hub.

The inaugural run of the special train (Train No. 02531) is slated to be flagged off from Banaras on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, departing at 16:45 hrs.

For Pune’s residents, particularly those operating in and around Hadapsar, the development brings tangible optimism. “Working in the IT sector here, I have seen so many colleagues struggle with connections to central and northern India. Having a direct train terminating right at Hadapsar is an absolute game-changer. It bypasses the severe traffic congestion of heading into the main Pune Junction,” said Rohan Gupta, a software engineer working at an IT park in Hadapsar.

The economic ripples of this new route are equally anticipated by the local trade community. “Better railway connectivity always means more footfall and smoother logistics,” notes Sameer Shaikh, who runs a flourishing wholesale fruit business in Pune. “Direct trains from the northern belts bring in traders and laborers seamlessly, bypassing intermediary stations. This directly impacts our daily business and supply chains in a positive way.”

Extensive Route and Schedule:

The inaugural special will chart an extensive route across the heartland before reaching its final halt at Hadapsar at 00:55 hrs. After departing Banaras at 16:45, the train will make its initial evening stops at Gyanpur Road (arriving 17:35, departing 17:40), Prayagraj Jn (19:05/19:15), Fatehpur (21:15/21:20), and Govindpuri (22:50/22:55).

Continuing through the night and into the following days, the train is scheduled to halt at Orai (00:25/00:30), VGL Jhansi (02:30/02:40), Bina (05:15/05:20), Rani Kamalapati (07:35/07:40), Narmadapuram (08:50/08:55), Itarsi (09:25/09:30), Harda (10:20/10:25), Khandwa (13:15/13:20), Bhusaval (15:00/15:05), Jalgaon (15:35/15:40), Manmad (17:45/17:50), Kopargaon (18:45/18:50), Ahilyanagar (20:35/20:40), and the Daund Chord Line (22:35/22:40), before finally pulling into Hadapsar.

Technical Specifications and Logistics:

Operating with end-to-end electric traction, the new daily service promises both transit efficiency and sustainability. The train composition boasts a formidable 22-coach Amrit Bharat Rake, specifically configured with eight LWSCNPP coaches, eleven LWSPP coaches, two LSLRDPP units, and one LWCBPP coach.

Operational logistics have been meticulously outlined to support the massive transit effort. Primary maintenance for the train will be carried out at BNRS with RBPC. En route, the train is scheduled to undergo necessary watering procedures at three key junctions: Govindpuri, VGL Jhansi, and Itarsi. Furthermore, transit protocols dictate that upon completing its inaugural run, the rake of the special train (02531) will be immediately returned from Hadapsar back to Banaras.

While this inaugural journey is firmly scheduled for April 28, railway authorities have stated that the commencement of the train’s regular daily running schedule will be formally notified at a later date. Until then, Hadapsar stands ready to usher in a new era of connectivity.
