Pune Firing: Youth Injured in Salon Shooting at Warje; One Accused Arrested

Warje, 24th April 2026: A firing incident at a salon in the Warje area of Pune on Friday evening left one person injured, while another sustained injuries during a scuffle, police said.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam, the incident took place around 6:40 pm at Chaitanya Chowk. Nihal Shinde, who was inside the salon getting a haircut, suffered a bullet injury to his left ear when the accused opened fire.

Another individual, identified as Amol Adhav, was also injured during the ensuing scuffle inside the salon.

Police have identified a total of five accused in connection with the incident. One of them, Sahil Raut, was nabbed on the spot by the Detection Branch (DB) team, which was patrolling in the area at the time. His prompt arrest helped prevent further escalation, officials said.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the firing was a result of prior enmity between Nihal Shinde and the accused, linked to an offence reported in January 2023.

Further investigation is underway to trace and arrest the remaining accused. Police are also examining the sequence of events leading to the firing.
