Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad’ celebrated ‘Basant Utsav-2019’

City based ‘Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad’ celebrated ‘Basanta Utsav 2019’. This 14th edition of Utsav held at Empress Garden on Sunday morning. The program ambiance, under the open sky of Empress Garden, resembles Basanta Utsav celebration at Shantiniketan, West Bengal.

This traditional program based on selected songs of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore – A Program based on dedicated songs for the lovely season Spring, collected from the ocean of Rabindrasangeet and supported by a script and dance form choreographed especially to catch the mood of Spring morning. The participants (singers, dancers, script readers) were from all over Pune. Music accompaniment by Pandit Uttam Pal (Tabla), Shri Subrato Mukherjee (Key Board) and Shri Biplab Mandal (Khol).

Chief Guest for the program was Mrs and Mr Suresh Pingle, Executive Head of Trustee Body, Empress Garden. The organizing committee consists of Smt. Sujata Paul, Smt. Madhumita Ghosh, Sri Arun Chattopadhyay, Sri Subhasis Bagal, Smt. Rakhi Chatterjee, Sri Bireswar Mitra, Sri Shivaji Mukherjee and Brig Swapan Kumar Lahiri were present.

‘Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad is 53 years old socio-cultural organization of Pune primarily spreading rich literature and culture of Bengal among Pune communities. Basanta Utsav, is all about reminiding ourselves that cold winter months are over & there is a new beginning in the air’, informed Madhumita Ghosh, Vice President Cultural, Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad.

Guest artist Saswati Guhathakurta (first Doordarshan Bangla Announcer and an actress) and Shreya Guha Thakurta presented “Tumi Mata Tumi Kanya” – supported by renowned musicians duo Subroto Mukherjee (Key Board) and Biplab Mandol (Tabla / Khol) from Kolkata. Shreya completely mesmerised the audience with her melodic voice and superb rendition of Tagore’s song. Saswati Guhathakurta was equally excellent with her script reading and recitation.

A programme dedicated to ‘Basanta Bandana’ was based on selected songs from ‘Nabeen-Geetnatika’ by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, supported by especially choreographed dances, to catch the mood of a Spring morning.

Basanta Utsav cultural event which finds its roots at the birth place of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at Shantiniketan; brings together people from all walks of life, covering the sky with colors and spreading happiness, love and laughter everywhere.
