Swarasagar Cultural Festival to start on February 28 in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pune, February 25, 2019 : Residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad are about to experience a blend of different music styles in the popular cultural festival called ‘Swarasagar’. The festival will be held in between February 28 and March 2 and will be free and open for all with few seats reserved.

Pimpri Chinchwad Social Trust has organized Swarasagar Cultural Festival with the guidance of Shravan Hardikar, Collector, PCMC and Rahul Jadhav, Mayor of Pimpri-Chinchwad, while Pravin Tupe, Jt. City Engineer, PCMC is the cultural advisor for the festival. The thing that makes this festival special is that it is conceptualised by National Award winning Singer Mahesh Kale.The festival will take place on the ground near City Pride School situated in ‘Sector 27- A’ in Nigdi-Pradhikaran in between 6.30pm to 10pm on all the three days from February 28 to March 2.

Many cultural programmes happen in the city of Pune for the entire year. However, the number is relatively less for the sister city of Pimpri-Chinchwad. The aim of Swarasagar Cultural festival is to expose the citizen of Pimpri-Chinchwad to good quality content. We have carefully chosen the programmes for this festival so that it will present glimpse of different music styles. I had requested youth through the medium of Facebook and Instagram to participate in this festival as volunteers and the response is phenomenal. I am sure that this festival will help a great deal to nurture music connoisseurs in this industry city, said Mahesh Kale.

On February 28, the program ‘Chhote Sur Veer’ will take place in which the top 5 child contestants from the famous television reality show- ‘Sur Nava Dhyas Nava’ will present their singing skills. Contestants Utkarsh Wankhede, Anshika Chonkar, Srushti Pagare, Chaitanya Devdhe, Swarali Jadhav and Sai Joshi will participate in this programme. Actress Spruha Joshi will be anchoring the event.

On the second day of the festival, that is March 1, a programme ‘Sobaticha Karar’ featuring some Marathi Gazal compositions will be presented by Vaibhav Joshi, Dattaprasad Ranade and Ashish Mujumdar. On the same day, a programme based on songs and memories of Sudhir Fadke, G. D. Madgulkar and P. L. Deshpande will take place. This event will be presented by Shridhar Fadke, Anand Madgulkar and Jayant Deshpande.

On March 2, a unique programme called ‘Taal Vadya Kacheri’ will be presented which is conceptualised by Pt. Vijay Ghate, Tabla Maestro. The program will unfold the beauty of different percussion instruments with dance and vocal performances. Stalwarts like Pt. Vijay Ghate along with Shridhar Parthasarathi (Mrudangam), Sheetal Kolwalkar (Dance), Jaydeep Vaidya (Vocal) & Milind Kulkarni (Harmonium) will participate in this programme.

The festival will conclude with the engaging performance of Mahesh Kale named as ‘Swara Dhyas’, who will present a blend of classical and semi-classical vocal through his presentation.

Prior to the cultural festival, a special platform is going to be made available for local artists and performers of Pimpri-Chinchwad to present their art. This event will be held on February 26 and 27 at Auto Cluster Auditorium in between 6pm to 10pm on both days.
