Pune, 9th September 2022: The immersion of Ganesha idols has begun in Pune, marking the end of the 10-day-long Ganesh festival. Massive processions with Ganesh idols were carried out throughout the day. For the last 10 days, Punekars have served their Bappa with enthusiasm. On the last day too, devotees flocked to bid farewell to their beloved Ganraya.

Bappa was traditionally bid farewell in the presence of drums, tasha and hundreds of Punekars. Children, dressed up, voluntarily participated in prasad distribution. The sound of Ganapati Bappa Morya…Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya (Bappa, come early next year) was the most prominent one. Loud music could be heard in the way of the procession, and Punekars’ feet swayed on the beats of the music. A huge crowd of Ganesha devotees were everywhere.

After almost two years, public Ganeshotsav is being celebrated without any restrictions, and this year the joy was doubled.

A mesmerizing scene was seen everywhere. Beautiful idols of Bappa decorated with attractive flowers and colourful lights routed on the immersion path. People could not resist the temptation of taking pictures of this spectacular view.

Police have deployed strong security to prevent all kinds of law and order problems and to ensure a smooth passage of processions.

“Seeing Bappa going fills my eyes with tears,” says Anita (24), staff at a clothing store. “Bappa, I miss you. Promise me that you will always be there with me,” said a deep-connected devotee of Bappa, 9-year-old Shantanu.

Ganeshotsav is not just a festival; it’s an emotion for Punekars. Bappa is the glory of Pune. Thus, the immersion of Ganesha idols, mixed emotions of devotees, and a long wait for the next Ganeshotsav marked the end of Ganeshotsav 2022.
