Pune, December 23, 2020: Considering the Covid-19 pandemic the Maharashtra State Government has issued guidelines for the celebrations at Perne phata Jaystambh (victory pillar) Bhima Koregaon on January 1, 2021. Every year lakhs of people come to pay homage to the souls who lost their lives while fighting on behalf of British against Peshwa.

Guidelines are as follows:
1) Since many cities in the State have several active Covid-19 cases, it is better to avoid the congregation of people. For the last eight months, people have simply celebrated various festivals and avoided crowding. Thus, on the background of Covid-19, taking all the precautions, the homage should be done in a representational manner

2) The local administration should take precautionary measure to avoid crowding of people from across the State and outside the State at Perne phata

3) The Jaystambh event will be telecast live on the TV channels (Doordarshan and others) and thus appealed to people to watch it on their television sets

4) No permission to conduct any public meeting, erecting of food or book stalls at the spot
