Organized by Sunanda Rajendra Pawar, the event will take place from December 20 to December 25, 2024, at the College of Agriculture Grounds, Sinchan Nagar, Pune. This platform serves as a bridge between rural artisans and urban audiences, showcasing the best of sustainable practices and traditional craftsmanship.

This year’s event holds special significance as it commemorates the 25th death anniversary of Padma Shri (Late) Shri Appasaheb Pawar, a visionary who revolutionized Indian agriculture with innovations like drip irrigation.
With an expected footfall of over 1 lakh visitors, Bhimthadi Jatra 2024 offers a unique opportunity to experience Maharashtra’s rural ethos while promoting sustainability and cultural diversity.

Key Attractions
Appasaheb Pawar Memorial
A tribute to Shri Appasaheb Pawar will greet visitors at the entrance, featuring a timeline of his life and accomplishments. Positioned next to the Bhimthadi Selects section, this memorial underscores the event’s dedication to agricultural progress and rural development.

Farmers’ Produce Section
This segment will emphasize residue-free farm products, ensuring health-conscious options for visitors. GI-tagged items and other agricultural produce, including honey, will also be on display.

Bee and Butterfly Conservation
An Indigenous Plant Garden will highlight the importance of bees and butterflies in maintaining biodiversity. This educational initiative addresses the ecological concerns arising from their declining populations.

Bhimthadi Selects Section
A curated space featuring 30 premium stalls, this section will showcase:
Sustainable textiles made with natural dyes and traditional techniques
Handcrafted lifestyle products that reflect India’s rich artisan heritage

Swayamsiddha Section
Dedicated to women entrepreneurs and self-help groups, this area will include:
Unique handicrafts like bamboo jewelry and eco-friendly fridge magnets

Traditional home utility products, including wooden rolling pins and godhadi blankets

Telangana Stalls
Making its debut at Bhimthadi Jatra, Telangana’s handlooms and authentic regional cuisine will add a new dimension to the cultural experience.

Bara Balutedar Section
This area will spotlight Maharashtra’s traditional occupational communities, including cobblers, potters, and bamboo artisans. Live demonstrations of their craft will give visitors a firsthand experience of the village economy.

The culinary section remains a crowd favorite, offering delicacies like Malvani seafood thalis, Kolhapuri tambda-pandhra rassa, ukadiche modak, and khapri varchi puran poli.
