Bike Rider Assaults Pune Traffic Policeman After Being Stopped For Talking On Phone While Driving

Hadapsar, 8th February: In a shocking incident in Fursungi, a traffic police constable was attacked by a bike rider after being stopped for talking on his mobile phone while riding. The accused fled the scene, and police have launched a search operation to trace him.
The injured constable has been identified as Rajesh Ganpat Naik (47), who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. He has filed a complaint regarding the incident.
According to the police, Constable Naik was regulating traffic at Bhekrainagar in Fursungi around 5:30 PM on Thursday when he noticed a bike rider speeding while talking on his mobile phone. Naik stopped the rider and warned him about the violation.
However, instead of complying, the biker argued with Naik, picked up a stone from the road, and hurled it at Naik’s head before escaping. The injured constable was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
A case has been registered, and Sub-Inspector Rajesh Khande is leading the investigation. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the accused.
This is the second recent attack on a traffic policeman in Hadapsar. Earlier, a woman assaulted a traffic cop with her slipper after he asked her to remove a bike parked on the footpath.
