Birla Estates Builder Gets PMC Notice, Yet Hazardous Mud Returns to Pune RTO Road Within 24 Hours
Pune, 7th August 2026: Mud and debris spilled by heavy vehicles transporting excavated material from an under-construction site have continued to make the road between the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Naidu Hospital hazardous, with several two-wheeler riders reportedly skidding over the past three to four days.
Several motorists lost control of their two-wheelers on Tuesday and Wednesday after the road became slippery due to mud deposited by construction vehicles. Following the incidents, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) issued a show-cause notice to the developer and the project’s architect. However, despite the civic action, fresh mud was found on the road again on Thursday morning, resulting in more two-wheeler riders skidding and sustaining injuries.
The PMC’s Building Development Department served the notice to Birla Estates Pvt. Ltd. and architect Dinesh Chandratre on Wednesday, seeking an explanation for the repeated incidents. According to the notice, a new building project is under construction at the site, involving the regular movement of ready-mix concrete vehicles and trucks carrying excavated material.
The civic body stated that construction material and mud have repeatedly spilled onto the public road in front of the Pune RTO office, RTO Chowk and adjoining stretches, triggering multiple complaints from citizens. The notice directed the developer to submit an explanation to the Building Development Department within seven days and take immediate measures to prevent further spillage.
Despite the notice, mud from construction-related vehicle movement was again found on the road on Thursday morning, raising concerns over non-compliance with civic directions and the continuing risk to commuters, particularly two-wheeler riders.
