BJP Deploys Heavyweights for Kasba Assembly By-Election in Pune

Pune, 20th February 2023: The Kasba Assembly by-election has become a closely contested battle, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) deploying its top leaders in Pune for campaigning in the final four days.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also taken a personal interest in the election. The by-elections have been necessitated by the untimely death of sitting BJP MLA Mukta Tilak, and the party has nominated Hemant Rasane, former chairman of the Standing Committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and a trustee of the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Trust, as its candidate. The BJP is leaving no stone unturned to ensure his victory.

On the other hand, Ajit Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is holding a rally for Congress candidate Ravindra Dhangekar in the evening.

The Election Commission has also allotted the bow and arrow symbol of the Shiv Sena to the Shinde-led faction, giving it added momentum.

With the final four days of the campaign remaining, both the BJP and Congress have stepped up their efforts. The BJP has deployed its full force, with senior leaders such as Devendra Fadnavis, Pankaja Munde, Praveen Darekar, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, and Ravindra Chavan campaigning in Pune. Moreover, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is personally reaching out to various people between 4:30 and 8:30 pm today.

BJP spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar said that the Chief Minister will be holding social meetings in RCM Gujarati High School in Kasba Peth. On the final day of the campaign, the Chief Minister will again campaign, and a bike rally has been organized in his presence.

As the election draws to a close, the battle between the two major political parties has intensified, and it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious.
