Pune, 20th February 2023: In a case involving a family conflict, the complainant claims that the police are shielding his father and grandmother from prosecution by failing to cite the appropriate Indian Penal Code provisions when the complaint was initially filed. The police, on the other hand, denied the accusations, claiming that everything was carried out legitimately and without error.

An FIR was filed at the Lashkar police station after it was claimed that three persons recently beat up two elderly people and a 37-year-old over a property dispute. The complainant, who was one of the victims, asserted that the police had shielded the suspect by failing to include IPC section 307 when filing the initial complaint. However, one of the senior police officials claimed that the accused were arrested but were released on bail.

Khushru Irani had made the allegation, the police said. A property dispute between two families has already been filed in civil court. However, the complainant claimed that his father, Sheriyar Irani, and grandmother, Mehrukh Irani, were attacked by three of his relatives—his uncle, aunt, and cousin. When his 81-year-old grandmother tried to assist, his uncle and cousin struck her in the back, stomach, and private areas. They then locked him in his home and abused him.

This case was brought per IPC sections 325, 342, 323, 506, and 34.

The complainant stated that his mother requested assistance from the police after he became unconscious. His uncle and cousin arrived at Sassoon General Hospital as he was transported there, and they supposedly “handled” the situation.

The complainants state that they are waiting for the court order but in the meantime, fear for their lives. However, police officials claim that all the necessary actions have been taken, and further decisions can be made only after the court order.
