BJP To Hold Two-Day Workshop For Civic Corporators, Focus On Municipal Functioning; Corporators From Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad to Attend

Pune, 23rd September 2026: The BJP will hold a two-day training workshop for its corporators from municipal corporations across Maharashtra, including Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, to familiarise them with civic administration and the functioning of elected bodies.

The workshop will be held on September 29 and 30 at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini in Mira-Bhayandar under the guidance of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP state president Ravindra Chavan.

The training will cover municipal rules, house proceedings, raising questions, budgets, monitoring development works, implementation of government schemes, coordination with the administration and addressing citizens’ grievances.

Party officials said the focus would be on ensuring that corporators understand house rules, study issues before raising them, seek relevant information from the administration and monitor the progress and quality of civic works, rather than limiting their role to putting forward political positions.

The workshop assumes significance for Pimpri Chinchwad, where the ruling BJP has faced criticism over allegations of irregularities and corruption since the civic elections. The training is also expected to emphasise party discipline and coordination between elected representatives, the civic administration and the party organisation.

The BJP has previously conducted similar training programmes for its corporators at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, covering civic administration, development works, public engagement and organisational functioning.

The party is also expected to stress that corporators are representatives of citizens in their wards and must maintain regular communication with residents and pursue their grievances with the administration.

For Pimpri Chinchwad corporators, the workshop will also focus on issues extending beyond individual wards, including infrastructure in newly developing areas, traffic and civic amenities in older parts of the city, and the challenges of managing growth in a major industrial centre.
