Pune: Property Tax Defaulters on PCMC Radar, Seizure Action After Sept 30
Pimpri Chinchwad, 23rd September 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will initiate seizure proceedings against properties with substantial property tax arrears after September 30, municipal commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi said on Wednesday.
He directed officials to prioritise industrial, non-residential, mixed-use and other properties with large outstanding dues and take action as per rules.
Suryawanshi issued the directions during a review meeting of the civic body’s Tax Assessment and Collection Department. Additional commissioner Trupti Sandbhor, deputy commissioner Sachin Pawar, administrative officers and assistant divisional officers attended the meeting.
Officials reviewed zone-wise data on property tax collection, property transfers, assessment of new properties, defaulters and inflated demand notices. Suryawanshi directed officials to expedite pending cases and intensify recovery efforts to meet the department’s collection targets.
He also instructed officials to initiate necessary legal proceedings against persistent defaulters and prepare zone-wise plans to accelerate tax recovery. The civic administration has been asked to closely monitor unauthorised constructions and take action as per rules. Officials were also directed to identify new constructions and promptly assess eligible properties for property tax.
Meanwhile, PCMC has appealed to property owners to pay their tax online before the September 30 deadline to avail themselves of a 4% rebate on the general tax component. The civic body said Rs 592.74 crore in property tax has been collected so far.
With eight days left to avail the rebate, the Tax Assessment and Collection Department has urged property owners to clear their dues online before the deadline.
