Pune, 19th April 2021: To bridge the gap between donors and seekers, Love Care Share Foundation started an initiative ‘Blood 4 Pune” and used the micro-blogging site Twitter to connect the people. So far 732 patients have requested for blood, plasma, platelets and the total unit of blood/plasma/platelets donated is 1347.

“For a couple of years, the foundation is organising blood donation Camp. During the pandemic, we realised that there was a huge shortage of blood and blood components in Pune. There the thought to use technology to reach out to people in less time and large number stuck me”, said Rishab Surana, founder, Blood4pune.

“Blood 4 Pune, is a web-based service that uses a microblogging site, Twitter to help people connect. It also let you know the availability of the required blood group near your area”, he mentioned.

“The idea behind using Twitter as a platform to connect donors and those who are in need was to provide a fully automated service and reduce time. We hope that this initiative will help in combating the demand-supply gap. You just need to to fill the Google form  and the team will tweet the requirement for you”, he informed.

“As city battles with the rising number of Covid-19 cases, there is high demand for blood and plasma. People are facing problems finding a donor so through our medium, I would like to request those who have recovered from Covid-19 to come forward and visit their nearest blood bank and should donate plasma or blood”, said Piyush Shah, founder president of Love Care Share Foundation.
