Pune, 27th August 2026: MKSSS’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women (BNCA), in collaboration with UltraTech Cement, hosted a two-day programme on August 13th and 14th to celebrate ‘Concrete Day’. The programme featured demonstrations, workshops, an expert lecture, and inter-college competitions, including a quiz and reels making competition.

On the first day, Er. Sheetalraj Sindhakhede, Regional Technical Head, UltraTech Cement (Pune), inaugurated the event and delivered a guest lecture on innovative and sustainable concrete solutions. The guest lecture was followed by a hands-on concrete workshop, which included concrete batching, mixing, testing, and the creation of scaled models of structural elements. Around 160 second-year B.Arch. students of BNCA enthusiastically participated in the lecture and workshop. UltraTech Cement sponsored the initiative and also organised an exhibition showcasing its various products at BNCA.

An inter-college concrete quiz for architecture students was organised as part of Concrete Day on 14th August. Around 100 students from 15 colleges across Pune participated in the competition. The jury for the final round of the quiz competition included renowned structural engineers Er. Jayant Inamdar and Er. Hemant Joshi. BNCA students Sharvari Pathak and Harita Raghavendran won the first prize. The second prize was bagged by Radha Gadre and Harshada Chinchalkar, while the third prize went to Apurva Ghayal and Namrata Kachare, all from BKPS College of Architecture. An inter-college reels-making competition showcasing ‘Innovative Concrete Structures Designed by Renowned Architects’ was judged by noted structural engineer Shivdatt Patne, along with artist and architect Deepti Lele.

The programme was organised by Dr. Sujata Mehta, Head of the Structure Cell at BNCA, and faculty members Prof. Kanchan Atnoorkar, Prof. Shweta Albal, Prof. Swapnil Shinde, and Prof. Preeti Namjoshi, along with 13 student volunteers. The event was organised under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Shubhada Kamalapurkar, Principal In-Charge, BNCA; Dr. Sharvey Dhongde, Vice-Principal; Prof. Mahesh Bangad; and Dr. Poorva Kulkarni, Head of the Archi-Engineering Cell at BNCA.
