Boxes of Unauthorized Drinking Water Found With in Pune DRM Office Parking; Questions Raised on Possible Staff Involvement
Pune, 1st November 2025: A new controversy has surfaced in the Pune Railway Division after four boxes of unauthorized packaged drinking water were found loaded on a black Activa scooter parked inside the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office premises on Saturday evening. The boxes reportedly carried “CR” (Central Railway) stickers, which are typically used by railway staff on official vehicles, raising questions about possible internal involvement in the unauthorized water supply network.
The discovery has intensified scrutiny following recent claims by a vendor at Pune railway station who, when questioned for overcharging, alleged he had to make regular payments to officials. The statement, coupled with the latest incident inside the DRM office parking area, has heightened concerns over possible lapses in internal monitoring.
Last month, Pune Division conducted a special drive to curb the unauthorized sale of packaged drinking water. During this operation, officials seized 107 boxes containing 1,284 bottles of unapproved brands from railway premises and nearby areas. The initiative aimed to ensure that only approved and quality-certified brands were made available to passengers.
According to official data, the approved packaged drinking water brands under Central Railway’s Pune Division include:
ROCOCO, Sunrich Aqua, Elvish, Eionita, Involife, Kanhaiyya, Oxymore Aqua, Zurica, Oxygrannd, Briotin, Aqua Zeal, Vighnaharta Arogyam, and Kelvino.
The finding of boxes carrying a Central Railway sticker within the DRM office parking premises has prompted speculation about potential misuse of official identification for transporting unauthorized goods. A detailed inquiry is expected, and an official statement from the Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) office is awaited.
Visuals and photographs from the spot have been shared with authorities, reportedly showing the scooter and boxes marked with CR stickers.
