Pune, 20 April 2021: After CBSE and ICSE, now Maharashtra state government has also cancelled the Class X board examination.

Recently, School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had announced the decision to postpone the 10th and 12th board examinations. However, in view of the deteriorating situation of Corona pandemic, the state cabinet today decided to cancel the Class X examination.

In a video message today, Gaikwad said, “Given the worsening situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra government has now decided to CANCEL the state board exams for class 10th. The health & safety of our students and teachers is our topmost priority.

As the current atmosphere is not conducive to exams, we had earlier postponed our exams while requesting other boards to reschedule theirs. In response to our communication, other boards have now cancelled their exams, so maintaining parity, we have cancelled ours too.

The criterion on the basis of which results will be declared for class 10th & the date of result declaration will soon be announced. The School Education Dept is committed to devising a ‘fair and accurate’ assessment criterion.

As far as the state board exams of class 12th are concerned, we have already conveyed our decision to postpone the exams till May end. The status remains the same. We are closely monitoring the health and safety situation in the state.”
