Bureaucrat Vikas Dhakne, The ‘Infrastructure Man’ Is Appointed as Deputy Secretary in Deputy Chief Minister’s Office

Mumbai, 8th January 2025: The Maharashtra State Government has entrusted Vikas Dhakne, the Commissioner of the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC), with a crucial new role by appointing him as Deputy Secretary in the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office (Ajit Pawar’s Office). Widely acknowledged as an “Infrastructure Man” in the bureaucracy, Dhakne has built a stellar reputation for driving transformative urban development initiatives across the state.
A 2008-batch civil service officer with a Master’s degree in Economics, Dhakne’s career has been marked by his exceptional execution of key infrastructure projects and administrative efficiency. His tenure at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) as Additional Municipal Commissioner showcased his ability to bring significant improvements to urban infrastructure. Notable achievements include advancing the Katraj-Kondhwa road project and facilitating critical land acquisitions for various development initiatives. Dhakne also spearheaded the resurfacing of potholes on 15 major roads in Pune, drastically improving the city’s transportation network.
Recently, as Commissioner of the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, Dhakne launched “Mission 50,” an ambitious plan aimed at extensive city development. The initiative focused on streamlining civic amenities and driving sustainable urban growth in Ulhasnagar, solidifying his reputation as a transformative leader.
