Car Catches Fire On Pune-Bangalore Highway, All Passengers Escaped Unhurt

Pune, 12th February 2021: A car caught fire on the Mumbai – Bangalore highway near Narhe. Seven occupants including the driver escaped unhurt. The incident happened around 8 pm on Thursday.

A Xylo SUV was travelling towards Kolhapur on Thursday evening. The owner of the car, Saurabh Barge, was travelling along with his 6 colleagues. When the car was passing over Vadgaon bridge, the driver saw smoke coming out from the bonnet. He immediately parked the car, and all the travellers got out of the car. Soon the car caught fire. A fire brigade team from Sun City and Nanded City fire brigade rushed to douse the flames.

Later, Abhijit Gaikwad, an officer from the national highway patrolling team, took aside the car along with his colleagues with the help of big cranes. There were no casualties in this incident, but the car was severely damaged, said a traffic police official.

The fire brigade officers who helped douse the fire include Sujit Patil, Abhijit Gone, Kishor Kalbhor, Prasad Jiwade, from Nanded City fire brigade; Pankaj Jagtap, Shivaji Mulmule, Shivaji Arol, Vilas Gadshi, Santosh Nalavde, from Sun City fire brigade office.
