Case Filed Against NCP Corporator Suraj Lohkande for Unauthorised Victory Procession in Pune
Pune, 20th January 2026: A case has been registered against newly elected Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator Suraj Lohkande for allegedly taking out an unauthorised victory procession after the declaration of the Pune Municipal Corporation election results. The action was taken by Parvati police following a complaint filed by police constable Katkar.
According to the police, the municipal election results were declared on Friday, January 17. Lohkande, the NCP candidate from the Janata Vasahat area, won after a closely fought contest. Following his victory, his supporters took out a procession in the area at around 7.30 pm.
However, the police had imposed a strict ban on victory processions across the city after the announcement of the results to maintain law and order. Despite this, Lohkande is accused of violating the orders and organising a procession without obtaining prior permission.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Parvati police station. Police havaldar Adak is conducting further investigation.
Earlier, the police had warned that strict action would be taken against anyone violating post-election restrictions, which were imposed to ensure peace and prevent any disturbance to law and order in the city.
