CBI ARRESTS A SUB-DIVISIONAL OFFICER OF BSNL IN A BRIBERY CASE
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Sub-Divisional Officer, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000/- from the complainant.
A case was registered on 03.01.2017 U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 on a complaint against Sub-Divisional Officer, BSNL, Ahmednagar. It was alleged that Sub-Divisional Officer, BSNL, Ahmednagar demanded a bribe of Rs.One lakh from the complainant in connection with his contract work of optical fibre cable laying. CBI laid a trap and caught Sub-Divisional Officer, BSNL, Ahmednagar red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant as the first instalment. Searches were conducted at the office & residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of incriminating documents including immoveable properties, investments etc.
The accused was produced before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ahmednagar on 04.01.2017 and remanded to one day custody.
