CBI arrests Aurangabad airport director

Pune : The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Airport Director, Airport Authorty of India, Aurangabad (Maharashtra) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant as first instalment.

A case was registered against Airport Director, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Aurangabad Airport, Aurangabad U/s Sec.7 of PC Act, 1988 on a complaint received from a private company based at Malad (West), Mumbai. The complainant had alleged that the Director, Airport Authority of India, posted at Aurangabad Airport (Maharashtra) was maintaining details of the non-scheduled flights and demanded bribe per flight from the ground handling private companies at Aurangabad Airport. It was further alleged by the complainant that the said officer demanded bribe of Rs. 50,000/- for allowing workers of his company to carry out the work of ground handling for non-scheduled flights at Aurangabad Airport.

CBI laid a trap and the Airport Director was caught red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.10,000/- , as first instalment of total bribe amount.

Searches were conducted at the official & residential premises of accused in Aurangabad and Varanasi(UP) which led to recovery of incriminating documents including papers related to purchase of two residential flats at Noida (Uttar Pradesh);  Gurgaon(Haryana) & various investments.
