CBI Arrests Central Railway’s Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer For Accepting Bribe

Nagpur, 13th July 2021:The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Central Railway, Nagpur(Maharashtra) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.

A case was registered on a complaint against Akhilesh Choube, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Central Railway, Nagpur on the allegations of demanding a bribe to pass the pending bill of a Nagpur based Travel Company. It was alleged that the Travel Company had provided car on rent to Central Railway, Nagpur and a rental bill of Rs 1,73,087 (approx) for the period 16.11.2020 to 15.05.2021 was pending payment in the office of Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Central Railway, Nagpur.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000/- from the complainant. Searches have been conducted at the premises of accused which led to the recovery of certain documents.

The accused will be produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Nagpur.
