Pune, 9th June 2023: In a major breakthrough, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested the Additional Divisional Commissioner of Pune division for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 8 lakh.

Dr. Anil Ganpatrao Ramod, who also served as an arbitrator for Pune, Satara, and Solapur districts under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), was taken into custody following a complaint lodged against him.

According to the allegations, the complainant was responsible for handling land acquisition law cases concerning farmers from Satara and Solapur Districts. It was claimed that the farmers from various villages were requesting increased compensation for their land, and the complainant was advocating for their cases in order to secure higher compensation. This advocacy took place before the Office of Additional Divisional Commissioner and also the Arbitrator for Satara, Pune, and Solapur Districts, in accordance with the National Highways Act.

The accused allegedly delayed the complainant’s cases, and when the complainant confronted him about it, he requested an unfair advantage of 10% of the increased compensation amount. Furthermore, it was claimed that the accused demanded Rs 10 lakh from the complainant in exchange for the increased compensation of approximately Rs 1.25 crore (approx.), but ultimately settled for Rs 8 lakh.

The CBI set a trap and caught the accused in the act of demanding and accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 8 lakh. Subsequently, searches were carried out at the accused’s official and residential locations across three places in Pune. These searches resulted in the discovery of approximately Rs six crore in cash, property-related documents encompassing 14 immovable properties owned by the accused and their family, investment and bank account details, as well as other implicating documents.

The arrested accused is scheduled to be produced before the CBI Special Court at Shivajinagar, Pune, tomorrow.
