CDS Releases Declassified Joint Doctrines on Cyberspace and Amphibious Operations
New Delhi, 7th August 2025: In a major step towards enhancing joint operational preparedness, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, who also serves as Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs, formally released the declassified versions of two critical Joint Doctrines—Cyberspace Operations and Amphibious Operations—during the Chiefs of Staff Committee meeting held in the capital today.
The release marks a strategic push to promote transparency, awareness, and wider dissemination of India’s evolving joint warfighting strategies. These doctrines are expected to serve as essential reference points for planners, operators, and policymakers across the defence establishment.
Unified Cyber Strategy:
The Joint Doctrine for Cyberspace Operations outlines a comprehensive approach to securing and advancing India’s interests in the digital domain. It aims to integrate both offensive and defensive cyber capabilities across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The doctrine calls for:
-Threat-informed planning
-Building operational resilience
-Real-time intelligence fusion
-Development of joint cyber forces
It also enables synchronized cyber operations to ensure a robust and secure cyberspace posture for the armed forces.
Integrated Amphibious Warfare Framework
The Joint Doctrine for Amphibious Operations sets forth a unified framework for executing operations that combine maritime, land, and air capabilities. It highlights the need for:
-Seamless interoperability among Services
-Rapid response readiness
-Joint application of force for achieving shore-based objectives
The doctrine seeks to ensure coordinated planning and execution of amphibious missions in complex and dynamic threat environments.

Future Doctrines in the Pipeline
General Chauhan has also initiated the development of additional joint doctrines and primers in niche and emerging areas of warfare, including:
-Military Space Operations
-Special Forces Operations
-Airborne and Heliborne Operations
