Central Railway to Run 250 Ganpati Special Trains for Festive Rush

Mumbai, July 18, 2025 — Central Railway has announced the operation of 250 Ganpati Special trains to manage the heavy passenger rush expected during the upcoming Ganpati Festival. These services will cater primarily to Konkan-bound devotees traveling from Mumbai, Pune, and surrounding regions, starting from August 22 to September 10, 2025.

According to the schedule released by Central Railway, the services include a mix of daily, weekly, AC, and MEMU specials, with departures from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Pune, and Diva to destinations like Sawantwadi Road, Ratnagiri, Chiplun, and Madgaon.

Highlights of Ganpati Special Train Services:

CSMT–Sawantwadi Road Daily Specials (76 services):

Train 01151/01152 (40 services): Departing CSMT at 00.20 hrs and returning from Sawantwadi at 15.35 hrs.

Train 01103/01104 (36 services): Departing CSMT at 15.30 hrs and returning from Sawantwadi at 04.35 hrs.

CSMT–Ratnagiri Daily Specials (36 services):

Train 01153/01154 operating between 11.30 hrs (up) and 04.00 hrs (down).

LTT–Sawantwadi Road Daily and Weekly Specials (114 services):

Trains 01167/01168 and 01171/01172 (72 daily services).

Train 01129/01130 (6 weekly services).

LTT–Madgaon Weekly Specials (10 services):

Trains 01185/01186 and 01165/01166 (AC specials).

Pune–Ratnagiri Weekly Specials (12 services):

Trains 01447/01448 (general weekly) and 01445/01446 (AC weekly).

Diva–Chiplun MEMU Daily Specials (38 services):

Trains 01155/01156 will operate with unreserved MEMU rake from August 23 to September 10.

Train Composition:

Most services will include AC-3 Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches along with Second Seating cum Guard’s brake vans. AC weekly specials to Madgaon and Ratnagiri will feature First Class AC, AC-2 Tier, and AC-3 Tier coaches, including generator cars and pantry cars (in locked condition).

Reservation and Booking:

Reservations for the Ganpati Special trains will commence on July 24, 2025, through all computerised reservation centres and the IRCTC website (www.irctc.co.in).

Passengers planning to travel via unreserved coaches may book tickets using the UTS system at standard superfast Mail/Express rates.
