Central Universities Entrance Test sees surge in registration for UG courses

Pune, 6th April 2023: The number of students registered for the Central University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) this year has increased by four lakhs compared to last year. This year, 13.99 lakh students have paid the exam application form and fee. University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar provided this information through a tweet.

Last year, the UGC introduced the CUET exam to avoid students from having to take entrance exams from different universities for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In 2022, a total of 90 universities participated in CUET, with 44 being central universities. This year’s CUET is scheduled to start on May 21st. The last date for registration for this examination was March 30th. This year, 242 universities are participating in the examination.

According to the information given by Jagadesh Kumar, in 2022, a total of 12.50 lakh students were registered, out of which 9.9 lakh students had filled the admission form. Out of 16.85 lakh students registered for this year’s CUET, 13.99 lakh students paid the admission form and fees. Therefore, compared to 2022, the number of students appearing for the exam in 2023 has increased by four lakhs, i.e., by 32 percent.
