Centre Positive on Daund-Pune EMU Local Service, Says MLA Rahul Kul After Meeting Railway Minister

Daund, 4th August 2026: The Centre has responded positively to the long-pending demand for introducing an EMU local train service on the Daund-Pune rail corridor, MLA Rahul Kul said after meeting Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi.

Kul said the Railway Minister assured him that the proposal to introduce EMU services on the route would be processed on priority. Maval MP Shrirang Barne was also present during the meeting.

The meeting follows Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s recommendation to the Union Railway Ministry after Kul raised the issue with the state government.

During the meeting, Kul urged the Railway Ministry to replace the existing DEMU/MEMU trains with faster EMU local services to reduce travel time and provide dedicated coaches for women, persons with disabilities and first-class passengers. He also sought faster completion of the electric loco shed at Daund, extension of the 6 am DEMU service from Hadapsar to Pune Junction, an increase in train frequency during peak hours, introduction of additional services between 8.20 am and 5 pm, and measures to address recurring technical faults that often delay trains.

According to Kul, Vaishnaw assured that work on the Daund electric loco shed would be expedited and that the proposal to introduce EMU local trains on the Daund-Pune route would be taken up on a priority basis.

“The Daund-Pune rail corridor is the backbone of the region’s social and economic development. We have been consistently pursuing these demands under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Railway Minister’s positive response gives us confidence that commuters will soon get faster and more convenient rail services,” Kul said.
