New Delhi, 29th October 2025: Artificial intelligence major OpenAI has announced that its subscription plan, “ChatGPT Go,” will be available free of cost for one year to users in India who sign up during a limited-time promotional period starting November 4. The initiative coincides with OpenAI’s first India-focused developer event, “DevDay Exchange,” underscoring the company’s growing focus on the Indian market.

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Go in August this year as an affordable alternative to its premium subscription, offering users access to advanced features such as higher query limits, image generation, and file uploads at a lower price point.

The company said the plan received an overwhelming response, with the number of paid subscribers in India doubling within the first month of its launch. Following this success, OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT Go’s availability to nearly 90 countries.

OpenAI noted that millions of users in India—ranging from developers and students to professionals across industries—use ChatGPT daily. The new offer is part of the company’s broader ‘India-first’ strategy and aligns with its support for the IndiaAI Mission, aimed at fostering AI innovation in the country.

Existing ChatGPT Go subscribers will also be eligible for the free 12-month offer. Commenting on the initiative, Nick Turley, Vice President and Head of ChatGPT at OpenAI, said, “The sense of belonging and creativity we have seen since the launch of ChatGPT Go in India is deeply inspiring. This offer is our way of thanking Indian users for their enthusiasm and innovation.”
