Chikoo Prices Drop by 10% at Pune Market Yard as Arrivals Increase

Pune, 31st August 2026: Chikoo prices at Pune’s Market Yard have declined by around 10 per cent following a significant increase in arrivals, primarily due to the beginning of the fruit’s season in Gujarat.

Around 400 to 500 lots of chikoo arrived at the Market Yard fruit market on Sunday, with supplies coming mainly from Gujarat. Limited quantities are also being received from Karnataka and various parts of Maharashtra.

Traders said the increase in supply compared to demand has resulted in a drop in wholesale prices. Chikoo was sold at ₹100 to ₹600 per 10 kg in the wholesale market, while retail prices ranged between ₹80 and ₹120 per kg.

Meanwhile, lemon prices continued to rise due to lower arrivals caused by excessive harvesting. With demand exceeding the available supply, prices of lemon sacks weighing 15 to 20 kg increased by ₹100 to ₹150.

Custard apple prices also registered a rise of around 10 per cent. However, muskmelon prices declined by approximately ₹2 per kg due to weak demand. Prices of most other fruits remained stable compared to the previous week, traders said.

On Sunday, the fruit market recorded arrivals of around 800 to 1,000 sacks of lemons, 50 to 60 tonnes of sweet lime, 4 to 5 tonnes of oranges, and 130 to 140 tonnes of pomegranates. The market also received 20 to 25 tempos of papaya, 10 to 12 vehicles of watermelon, 2 to 3 tempos of muskmelon, 400 to 600 crates of guava, five vehicles of pears, 10 to 12 tonnes of custard apples and five trucks of pineapples.

Current Wholesale Fruit Prices at Pune Market Yard

Lemons were priced between ₹500 and ₹2,000 per sack, while sweet lime prices ranged from ₹110 to ₹250 for three dozen. Oranges were sold at ₹150 to ₹700 per 10 kg.

Among pomegranates, the Bhagwa variety fetched ₹50 to ₹140 per kg, Arakta ₹10 to ₹50 per kg and Ganesh ₹5 to ₹30 per kg.

Watermelons were priced at ₹8 to ₹10 per kg, muskmelons at ₹15 to ₹25 per kg and papayas at ₹25 to ₹35 per kg. Guavas were sold at ₹400 to ₹600 per 20 kg, while pineapples fetched ₹400 to ₹900 per dozen.

Custard apples were priced between ₹20 and ₹150 per kg, while pears were sold at ₹3,500 to ₹4,000 for 24 to 25 kg.

The increased chikoo arrivals and subsequent price decline are expected to benefit consumers, particularly as supplies from Gujarat continue to reach Pune’s wholesale fruit market.
