Child Welfare Committee No. 2, Pune, Wins “Child-Friendly Award 2024” for Pune Division

Pune, 1st March 2025: The Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has announced Child Welfare Committee (CWC) No. 2, Pune, as the recipient of the prestigious “Child-Friendly Award – 2024” for the Pune Division.
As per Section 27(9) of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, CWC No. 2 holds the authority of a First-Class Judicial Magistrate and has successfully resolved over 7,000 cases in the past three years. The committee oversees more than 50 children’s homes, infant care centers, and all police stations under Pune Rural and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
Commitment to Child Welfare
The committee has been instrumental in child protection, rehabilitation of orphaned and destitute children, prevention of child marriages, elimination of child labor, addressing child begging, and ensuring the rehabilitation of minors affected by sexual abuse. Additionally, it has launched various initiatives focused on child safety, education, healthcare, and reintegration. The committee is widely recognized for its sensitive and prompt decision-making in matters concerning child welfare.

Award Ceremony Details:
The award will be presented on March 3, 2025, at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Nariman Point, Mumbai. The event will be graced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, Minister for Women and Child Development, and other esteemed dignitaries.
