Pimple Gurav, 26th February 2023: Polling for the Chinchwad Assembly by-election, a prestigious contest for BJP, Mahavikas Aghadi, and Independents, turned violent as supporters of rebel Rahul Kalate and ex-BJP corporators clashed at polling stations 353 and 354 of Pimple Gurav. The situation was defused after the police intervened and resolved the fight between the two sides. The incident disrupted the peaceful polling that was underway in the morning.

 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and NCP leaders Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, and Jayant Patil had campaigned for the Chinchwad by-election by holding campaign meetings and rallies. The outcome of the by-election is being seen as a litmus test for the upcoming elections.

 

The contest has been tense, with leaders criticizing each other. There are 13 sensitive constituencies in the Chinchwad Assembly Constituency, and there is a large police force deployed there to maintain order. The by-election is crucial for all parties involved, and every vote is crucial to their chances of victory.
